Energy Industry Development

EID is responsible for attracting and managing energy-based investments to Trinidad and Tobago. The aim is to ensure that strategic projects are undertaken, which would monetize the country’s natural gas resources through the production of value added products, as well as to promote the sustainable development of the country through energy-based initiatives.


National Energy has been mandated by the GORTT to identify and develop new industrial estates and ports for location of petrochemical, inorganic and downstream industries. Sites being developed are UIE, PLSEIE and Point Lisas North Industrial Estate (PLN). Benefits to be derived from the establishment of these sites include employment, increased foreign direct investment and revenues for the country.
